Stereotactic Breast Biopsy
The stereotactic breast biopsy is designed to improve the quality, accuracy, and ease of breast biopsies. Our system uses computer - assisted technology, known as digital stereotactic localization, to map the precise site of a breast abnormality before a tissue sample is taken for biopsy. Samples can then be obtained through a very small incision in the skin, minimizing procedure time, tissue trauma, and wound healing time. A breast biopsy procedure is a crucial step in diagnosing breast cancer at an early stage, when the chance for cure is greatest.
PET/CT
The PET/CT scanner integrates PET & CT technologies into a single device, making it possible to collect both anatomical & biological information during a single examination, resulting in a more comprehensive diagnosis.
APPLICATIONS CANCER
PET/CT scanning technology for the diagnosis, staging and treatment of cancer patients.
Cancer has advanced to become the second leading cause of death following heart disease. Early and precise diagnosis is imperative for patient treatment, giving patients a better chance at survival and more choices in treatment
At Ottumwa Regional we take this seriously and are committed to using the most advanced technology to care for the patient.
In one rapid exam, doctors can receive the critical diagnostic information needed to give patients the best possible care. Instead of two separate scans, doctors now gain exceptional images and information for diagnosis of cancer, which would normally take more than twice the time to provide. The PET/CT more accurately pinpoints location for surgery and radiation therapy as well as preserving healthy tissue. The PET/CT also assists in detecting cancer,
differentiating scar tissue from cancer cells.
